Aims and Objectives

EIfEL (European Institute for E-Learning) is collecting case studies from ePortfolio (and eLearning) providers as primary information for a number of uses:

  • As part of EIfEL’s knowledge base and Website content

EIfEL’s knowledge base and website allows EIfEL members, partners and visitors of the website to access and benefit from selected information.

  • As part of the Europe-wide “eStrategies for empowering individuals” initiative

This initiative is working on ePortfolio readiness in 21 European Countries, and the collected case studies would provide proof of ePortfolio implementation.

  • As a first step towards an overview of the ePortfolio market and a comparative study of current ePortfolio solutions

Through standardised case studies, the participating ePortfolio solutions will have contributed the first set of data needed to start a comparative study of ePortfolio solutions.

Benefits to case study contributors

Case studies will be used by members of EIfEL wanting to discover the different uses of ePortfolios and different ePortfolio solutions. This collection of case studies will also be accessible to visitors of EIfEL’s website as complementary information to the ePortfolio solutions software centre.

Solutions mentioned in case studies will, through the “eStrategies for empowering individuals” initiative, gain international visibility with European decision makers.

A comparative study of ePortfolio solutions, through the final report and its distribution at national and international events, will provide market intelligence to professionals seeking for an ePortfolio solution.

Guidelines

In order to achieve this EIfEL has designed the following document for collecting the most relevant information in an orderly and effective manner. This document describes a clear three step procedure where by a Fact Sheet and a Case Study template can be filled in.

By starting with the Fact Sheet, all the necessary quantitative information is presented in a structured way – and ready to be used in the case study narrative.

Filling in the template by answering all the questions and taking into account all the points stated should guide you towards a well structured and easily written document.

Quotes and testimonials from the users/clients are of great interest when in relation to the specific part of the document where they are inserted.

Procedure

1.      Step One: Retrieve the quantitative data describing your chosen case study and fill in the Fact Sheet (on page two)

2.      Step Two: Fill in the Case Study template (on page three) by writing a narrative based on the questions and guidelines found within the template, and integrating the data from the Fact Sheet.

3.      Step Three: Send the resulting file to Philippe Verstraete (philippe.verstraete@eife-l.org)
