ePortfolio Book Call for Chapters
A Call for Chapters for a new book entitled: ePortfolio: New Paradigm in Learning Assessment and Career Opportunities
This is a reminder that our deadline for chapter contributions for a book
entitled ePortfolio: New Paradigm in Learning Assessment and Career
Opportunities, which will be published by Idea Group Inc., is
approaching. Accepted chapters should pertain to one of the three
themes/sections as elaborated below: ePortfolio Thinking, ePortfolio
Technology, or ePortfolio Case Studies.
Researchers, educators, scholars, practitioners, and technologists are invited to submit a one- to two-page (100-200 words) book chapter proposal with tentative title, if you have not already done so, by February 28, 2005, to the Editors. Please make sure to identify for which section/theme your chapter is intended. Authors will be notified of acceptance by March 15, 2005 and invited to submit full chapters of 10 - 15 pages by June 1, 2005. This book is expected to be available for purchase on March 1, 2006.
Section / Theme 1: ePortfolio Thinking
This section will include a series of chapters focusing on the conceptual aspects of electronic portfolio systems and will elaborate on the innovative use of the ePortfolio to advance teaching and learning. Contributors will present their views of the current and potential uses for such systems in an effort to define the "big picture" for practical applications of ePortfolios. Chapters within this section will be authored by conceptual thinkers including academic leaders such as provosts within the higher education institutions, administrators within departments of education responsible for K-12 education, and executives within ministries of education of foreign countries. Research faculty members and scholarly experts from various institutions will likely also provide input in chapters within this section.
Section / Theme 2: ePortfolio Technology
This section will explore the technological aspects of the ePortfolio framework surrounding how the ePortfolio system as a new application software can be designed, built, and developed to operate either within an existing learning management system or as an independent enterprise system. Topics such as technical standards and functional interoperability among such systems will also be discussed. Contributors within this section are expected to be technology thinkers, experts, practitioners, and software architects/developers. Technology administrators and managers, such as CIOs, PIs, and directors of ePortfolio projects within educational or corporate institutions, are examples of potential authors.
Section / Theme 3: ePortfolio Case Studies
Chapters within this section will investigate the implementation or development of ePortfolio projects, and case studies for such projects will be provided along with success rate reports. Prospective authors include project managers with information about systems in various stages of development or implementation, faculty members with observations about the effects of ePortfolio usage on student learning or career development, career center leaders with insights into ePortfolio practices within their institutions, and researchers and graduate students with details and discussion of features necessary for a successful application, both practically and financially.
