The Portfolio in Italian Education
Maureen Layte was invited by the Psychology Department of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan to give the keynote address at a workshop on portfolios for assessment to over 150 schoolteachers on 1 October.
The Italian Ministry has decided that the portfolio will be used for assessment in all Italian schools.
Currently, the paper portfolio is most widespread, although some ePortfolio initiatives are being undertaken.
Maureen was invited to talk on E-portfolio:
- models and potentialities in order to give participants an insight into the current ePortfolio movement in Europe and worldwide;
- what the e adds to the paper portfolio and how the electronic portfolio is being used in the school sector.
A lively discussion highlighted the desirability of initiatives being supported at a high political level and the importance of co-operation among ePortfolio actors.
