The success of ePortfolio 2004!

by eifel last modified 25-08-2006 13:39

EIFEL is pleased to announce the success of the ePortfolio 2004 Conference which took place on 28th and 29th October 2004.

The event welcomed some 165 delegates from 18 different countries and all the continents to the charming seaside port of La Rochelle, France. The event was kindly sponsored by Nuventive who also opened the gala dinner and evening festivities.

Once again the worlds ePortfolio enthusiasts, as well as sampling the local wine and culinary delights, all made highly active contributions to the event. Over 40 thematic sessions covered issues as diverse as ePortfolios for improving accessibility and inclusion of citizens; the contribution of ePortfolios to lifelong learning, and practical ePortfolio tools sessions presented by some of our Conference exhibitors: OSPI, Livetext, Staos and Sentient Learning with ePortaro.

Keynote speeches were highly rated by all, as delegates gained knowledge from the world's ePortfolio experts from : Peter Rees Jones the EPICC interoperability project  on the state of the art of ePortfolios; Helen Barrett the International expert of ePortfolios who kindly shared us her personal examples of digital stories and showed us the benefits of storytelling;  Elizabeth Hartnell Young from the University of Melbourne on the potential of mobile technologies for ePortfolios and Bob Fryer CEO of the NHSU on how ePortfolios can help individuals, organisations and employers learn and progress in a society of knowledge that is also characterised by risk and uncertainty.

Serge Ravet (CEO EIfEL) and Kathryn Chang Barker (LIfIA) announced to all delegates the launch of the international campaign "ePortfolio for all" by 2010. The Europortfolio consortium will be a key catalyst in helping Europe reach that target. Sign up now!

The ePortfolio gallery in the exhibition space generated real enthusiasm from both the presenter and spectator sides as it enabled less experienced delegates to understand what an ePortfolio really looks like and evoked such comments as "The Conference was great - I got the idea of ePortfolio" or that there were "as many ideas about ePortfolios as delegates"!

We look forward to welcoming you all at ePortfolio 2005. Watch this space for details....
