An integral part of EIfEL's services to members and its contribution to the advancement of learning in Europe and world wide is the organisation of local, national and international seminars and conferences connecting ideas, people and organisations in the field of learning technologies, human capital and social innovation, human resources technologies, ePortfolio, eLearning, eQuality and digital identity. Past events have resulted in the creation of national and international networks, contribution to policies, the launch of the ePortfolio for All campaign, progress in interoperability through the organisation of Plugfests, transnational projects and numerous publications.

Industry leading experts to be keynote speakers at World of Learning Conference 2009

Industry leading practitioners in the learning and development arena will deliver the keynote speeches at this year’s World of Learning Conference, which takes place on 30 September & 1 October 2009 at the NEC, Birmingham.

A group of highly respected learning and development experts and leading practitioners have been appointed to the judging panel for the World of Learning Awards 2008.

NEC, Birmingham, on 19 November 2008 will host the highly competitive Awards ceremony. Now in their eighth year, the WORLD OF LEARNING AWARDS are acknowledged as the premier event for honouring learning-specific solutions. The closing date for entries is 5pm on 19 September 2008.

Helliwood As a part of a non-profit organization, Helliwood media & education is combining the specific competencies of a non-profit organization with the expert knowledge and potentials of a new media company and thereby is generating successful and highly innovative technological implementations. With the platform „Kompetenzkatalog.de“ Helliwood media & education has developed a complete ePortfolio in the field of media literacy, including a document centre and with a connection to the Europass curriculum vitae. Furthermore Helliwood media & education is developing and supervising an ePortfolio for pedagogical practice in the scope of the Microsoft Peer Coaching Program and supports BITS21 with ePortfolio solutions in educators training.
Mahara / Flexible Learning Network Mahara is a free and open source ePortfolio system first developed via collaboration in the education community in New Zealand. Mahara is learner centred – a form of Personal Learning Environment, with social networking and the capability to form groups and group portfolios. Pan-sector learner communities can be supported using Mahara and there is seamless single sign-on with Moodle out of the box. eLearning specialists, Flexible Learning Network, and open source developers, Catalyst IT, lead the open source Mahara community project.
