Progression from one grade of membership to a higher one depends on the development of new competences (not necessarily the result of formal training) and their recognition by the Institute.

Full Members

Full members are those individuals with a high level of expertise, or occupying managerial positions in e-learning, or acting as consultant in the design and engineering of e-learning systems

In order to preserve the status of full member, it is mandatory to draw up a personal plan of continuing professional development (CPD) and show that you operate in line with established professional standards of competence in your domain of expertise as well as with the Institute’s requirements for continuing professional development.

Only full members have the right to vote.

A full member is an Associate who has demonstrated his/her experience at a strategic level of decision-making and who has made a significant contribution to the objectives of the Institute. To become a Member a person must demonstrate experience at a management or consulting level in e-learning - corresponding to a European level 4 or 5 qualification.

Typically, an individual who has designed and steered the implementation of a corporate university, or who is an expert in the design of learning systems or educational resources may become a Member.

Associate

To become Associate members individuals must be able to demonstrate that in their professional activity they operate at a level of competence corresponding to a European level 3 of qualification.

Typically, a trainer involved in distance learning, a teacher using video conference or groupware software or, more generally, contributing to the implementation of an e-learning system, could claim Associate status.

Affiliate

Affiliate is the entry category to the Institute for those individuals interested in the domain of e-learning and who may wish to progress to other grades of membership. There are no specific selection criteria.
