Keypal workshop in Slovenia

by eifel last modified 10-08-2007 16:07

On the 18th January the KEYPAL partners held an open seminar at the Slovenian Institute for Adult Education in Ljubljana.

As part of the 4th KEYPAL Partner meeting hosted by SIAE in Ljubljana (Slovenia) the KEYPAL partners organised an open seminar for local organisations, teachers and students on 18th January 2006. The event was opened with a Slovenian - English introduction by Vera Milnar of SIAE and the KEYPAL project, welcoming the 35 participants who came from the Slovenian Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labour, the National Institute for Vocational Education and training, the PLYA centres (where KEYPAL is carrying out its ePortfolio pilots in Slovenia) and SIAE.

Serge Ravet of EIfEL then presented the Europortfolio campaign for an "ePortfolio for all in 2010" and the justification behind the need to promote ePortfolios for individuals in a knowledge economy. Angela Baker of EIfEL then presented EIFEL and Europortfolio (see photo below), examples of ePortfolio projects from around Europe and the KEYPAL project which is piloting ePortfolios with young adults with no formal qualifications in order for them to gain key skills for employement and life.

The project partners then each presented their ePortfolio pilot plans and groups, Katharina Kracht and Carsten Floemer for DRK Germany (who are using ELGG) , Bonnie-Dudley Edwards and Maragaret Durie from EUS Scotland (using Axia ePortfolios), Sarah Jones Morris from Career Wales (using Career Wales on line), Valérie Albadalajo and Marc Pédron from the Second Chance School in France (using weblogs), Nataljia Zalec from SIAE (using ELGG at the PLYA centres around Slovenia) and last but not least Théo Bondolfi from Ynternet Switzerland (using cooperation.net). The partners were also pleased to see a young Slovenian man come up and present his first results using ELGG ePortfolio (see below)!

The partners and Slovenian audience were pleased to welcome legal experts from the School of Law at the University of Bristol, Andrew Charlesworth and Anna Home. Andrew gave a very informative presentation about all the legal issues (data protection etc) that pilot organisations and projects need to take on board when setting up an ePortfolio project. Andrew's presentation and those of the other partners are available in the KEYPAL restricted area. If you would like access to the KEYPAL workspace please mail Angela Baker with details of your EIFEL portal login username.

The following morning the KEYPAL partners all enjoyed a visit to one of the KEYPAL ePortfolio pilot centres in Ljubljana (PLYA). We had the opportunity to meet and interact with the young adults who attend the centre and who are developing their ePortfolios in the context of the KEYPAL project. We were given a very warm welcome, hot drinks and a special viewing of the Renault 4L that the young adults (boys and girls) had jointly renovated from scratch. We hope of course that they will record this great experience in their ePortfolios!
