Paris Life-Fest June 13 and 14 2006 programme

This is the programme for the Paris June 13 and 14 2006 eLearning LIFE Fest.

The first eLearning LIFE Fest in France is organised in Paris on June 13 and 14 2006 by the partnership of the European project LIFE (Learning Interoperability Framework for Europe) with the active support of the European project TELCERT team, the PROLEARN European network of excellence metadata team, the EIfEL Institute team and the participation of ADL Co-laboratory.

The objective of this event is to present the state of the art of eLearning technologies, demonstrate and explore interoperability between eLearning solutions (LMS, authoring tools, content packaging) or/and other information systems.

The eLearning LIFE Fest will include:

    • A mailing list for developers in charge for interoperability aspects in eLearning projects hosted by EUN, LIFE project leader.
    • Demonstration of interoperability and cooperation between different eLearning LMSs and content authoring tools.
    • Demonstration of interoperability between digital repositories.
    • Demonstration and explanation of using different e-Learning standards for future eLearning development.
    • Demonstration of Application profiling and Conformance testing.

The event is free of charge.

    The registration process is closed

Scenarios

The eLearning LIFE Fest will be organised around a series of scenarios

Interoperability and conformance testing scenarios

Description

Pre-condidions

Post-conditions

Process

1.

Exchanging content package between systems using IMS Simple Sequencing

  • Learning content information compliant with SCORM 2004 and including Sequencing metadata.
  • Learning content information transferred successfully
  • Content Package succesfully passed conformance test using ADL Scorm 2004 Test System
  • information exported/created from first system as content package
  • information imported to second system

2.

Extending Scorm 2004, using Scorm with other specification, why and how?

  • Learning content information compliant with SCORM 2004 and using other specifications (AICC PENS, IMS SSP, IMS QTI, IMS LD...).
  • Content using the complementary specifications to Scorm correctly imported in the LMS with benefits of the new features.
  • information exported/created from first system as content package
  • any transfer mechanism: not significant  (except for AICC PENS)
  • information imported to second system

3.

Application Profiling and Conformance testing

  • An application profile and content conform to this AP or a system claiming conformance to scorm 2004
  • The content / system is validated regarding a test system (ADL Scorm 2004 Test system or Telcert Test System)
  • Show the process of:
    • application profiling
    • conformance testing

4.

Using external content with Digital repositories

  • A repository with metadata about learning contents (using LOM, LOM AP or Dublin core)
  • An another system can search content in this repository
  • Metadata available from first system
  • a request mechanism (SQI, OAI-PMH, ADL-Cordra)
  • information requested by a second system
