Constitution

EIfEL is a non-profit organisation, managed by a Council and an Executive Board. The Council's role is to monitor and guide the Institute in the conduct of its activities, while the Executive Board is in charge of its policy and operations. The Executive Board appoints a Chief Executive Officer who is responsible for the day to day conduct of the Institute's business.

The Council

The Council is responsible for the definition of standards of competence, quality standards and a code of professional ethics. It will be constituted by the Founding Members and some members of Executive Board.

The Members of Council will be:

  • The Founder Members
  • The honorary officers
  • The President of the Executive Board
  • The Chief Executive Officer
  • The Director of Research and Development
  • The elected full members
  • One representative of each branch of the Institute.

The Council will elect a President who will have a seat on the Executive Board.

The Council will be responsible for the establishment of a code of professional ethics that all individual and organisational members of the Institute will undertake to respect, as well as the implementation of a disciplinary procedure to deal with breaches of the code.

The Board

The business of the Institute will be administered by the Executive Board.
The Board will consist of a maximum of 14 members:

  • The President of the Executive Board
  • The Treasurer 
  • The President of the Council 
  • The Vice-presidents of the Executive Board
  • The General Secretary

Members elected by the Council.

Full members and Founding members elect the Executive Board.

Branches

In order to facilitate the activities of members, the Council is empowered to establish branches of the Institute.

Branches may be based on a geographic division (by region or country), but also by professional sector (such as the management of human resources, training and development or the design of educational resources).

These branches will be represented on the Council.
